  • Professional data: Work history, education, certifications, skills, and portfolio items you add to your profile.
  • Ratings and reviews: Ratings you give, ratings you receive, and any written review content.
  • Usage data: Log files, IP addresses, device type, browser type, pages visited, session duration, and click patterns.
  • Payment data: Billing address, subscription tier, and payment method (processed by our payment gateway; we do not store card numbers).
  • Communications: Messages you send via our in-platform chat, support tickets, and emails to us.

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Rating Star platform and its features.
  • To compute and display your Trust Score based on verified ratings.
  • To match you with job listings, professionals, or clients relevant to your profile.
  • To process payments and manage your subscription.
  • To send transactional emails (account confirmations, password resets, billing receipts).
  • To send product updates and newsletters, with your consent and an easy opt-out.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service.

For users in the European Economic Area, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with appropriate data protection obligations.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes (typically up to 7 years for financial records). Ratings and reviews associated with your account may be anonymised rather than deleted, as they form part of other users' trust records.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request deletion of your data (right to erasure).
  • Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
